Putting people first means Parke Corporation places top priority on health and safety at all times.
Whether it is in the office; meeting with clients at their workplace, home or in the field; travelling to and from work, meetings or appointments; or at any other time while carrying out work-related business, our people place great emphasis on health and safety.
We set clear requirements with minimum mandatory controls to manage and protect the health and well-being of our employees. In line with our culture of care, we undertake activities to enhance the physical and mental well-being of our employees.
We are committed to a set of safety priorities that continue to guide our decision-making and approach to health and safety, including reinforcing that safety comes before productivity; focusing on verification of material risks; enhancing our internal investigation processes, and widely sharing and applying lessons; and enabling quality time to engage with our staff.
We believe having the right controls in place to effectively manage our risks that have health or safety impacts will lead to improved safety outcomes.
We provide opportunities for interaction to improve our health and safety performance. Routine engagement with employees includes health and safety committees; regular information sessions and training in the latest Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requirements; and in-house leaders discussing job-specific safety risks.
Emphasising this commitment, Parke Lawyers is certified under Health & Safety OHSAS 18001: 2007 – the benchmark certification to assess the OHS management systems for organisations.
In September 2009 Parke Lawyers became the first Australian legal practice certified to this international standard. This certification means Parke Lawyers has been independently assessed by experts and has demonstrated its commitment to workplace safety.
Parke Lawyers takes these responsibilities seriously and has established an effective OHS Management System that ensures the firm provides and maintains a working environment that is safe and without risk and that employees take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others. This system enables the prompt identification, reporting, recording and effective resolution of all reported hazards and incidents.
